First-Person Perspective

I am a pharmaceutical researcher working to develop new medicines for serious diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease. From my perspective, animal testing is sometimes ethically justifiable because it helps ensure that treatments are safe before they are given to humans. Many life-saving medicines, including vaccines and cancer treatments, were developed with the help of animal research.

I understand that animals can suffer during experiments, and I do not believe animals should be used unnecessarily. However, strict regulations exist to reduce pain and limit the number of animals used. Scientists also follow the principle of the Three Rs: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement.

While alternative methods are improving, they cannot yet completely replace living organisms in every situation. Until science develops better alternatives, I believe carefully regulated animal testing remains necessary to protect human health and save lives.
